Hey 👋 I’m Lemann
I like tech, bicycles, and nature.

If I ran the local power grid I’m not sure I’d want cargo trains using line power for traction, unless there was some mandated weight or length limit 🤔
Without some cargo limit I think sections of the line’s voltage will just collapse under the current being drawn, whenever the cargo train moves off from a complete stop - especially if it’s a multi mile long cargo train that seems common in the US
Fills up in a comparable time span as diesel locos, and the hydrogen storage would be much lighter compared to equivalent battery storage. No need for an onboard AC/DC generator for the traction motors too, as would be the case if it was diesel powered.
To me it seems like an ideal diesel loco replacement
I assume it will be hauling cargo, not passengers…
Anyone kind enough to bypass the paywall pretty please?
I don’t think @autotldr@lemmings.world supports this article URL…
Let me quickly Google that in Bing Bing Go
Op is a bot lol
I now use a USB-C to magsafe 1 adapter on my Mid 2012 MBP, free to replace the cable and charger at any time. Currently using a 65W PD brick and a nice long 10ft/3m cable 😁
The magsafe connector has saved my ass a bunch of times too LOL, my previous barrel jack laptop was yanked off tables more than a few times. Uni lectures were the worst as multiple people wouldn’t see the charger on the floor and trip on it 🥲
Gotta love the Macbook charger cables that wear down to exposed wires after a few years of normal use. Some will even give you a small sparky lightshow reminding you it’s time to be a consumer again!

Chaotic evil 😭
Rules for thee but not for me 🤡
That’s going to hurt any kind of confidence users have for Microsoft-designed mobile devices going forward IMO.
A bit of a shame since the Duo was a pretty nice looking device
Ohh, thank you for the clarification!
Since Intel has now discontinued their flagship arc card not even a year after release
Whaaaat? That’s disappointing ☹️ I was hoping finally there’d be some more competition
Stagefright was a BIG thing several years ago
Forget AI, they need to improve the storytelling and actually start marketing their animated films again.
The marvel stuff also needs to relax before people get superhero fatigue
That bit about being prone to natural disasters in future does make sense, considering how climate change is resulting in increased in sea levels and affecting other things too.
Thanks for your perspective!
Unpopular take: I disabled emergency alerts on my device.
If I was in Japan or some other country where natural disasters are expected, there is a clear benefit to a mobile EAS.
But why exactly are governments starting to show an interest in EAS systems, in places where they seem to not be necessary or needed?
How?
If you live in the US, most likely data brokers.
Really seedy industry centered around buying and selling your personal information, compiling public records from government sites to build a profile of your location, previous addresses, jobs, biological sex, given sex, phone numbers etc, and then cross referencing that with online data from ad trackers and targeting to build a more detailed profile of who exactly you are specifically.
This stuff doesn’t even scratch the surface too.
US law enforcement has also been openly using data brokers to bypass certain privacy protections/rights granted to people who live in the US, where things like a warrant or subpoena would usually be necessary
From GoG specifically, as they patch the older games on their store to “just run” on modern Windows
