It would be nice, I wouldn’t bet on it though and don’t recommend buying something in the chance it gets better later. I’m enjoying myself atm and wont be mad if it never becomes more than it is.

Hopefully it’s at least a signal to other devs that there is real market interest in base building + monster collection or just open world monster collecting

Idk, it’s definitely not some sort of life changing experience or high art or whatever. It is however kinda cute, a little bit funny, has an enjoyable gameplay loop, adequate exploration, and satisfy combat. It’s also pretty cheap.

The monster mechanics are surprisingly well integrated into the world. Just basic shit like pulling out a burny fox to see when in a cave is pretty immersive. Then discovering special mechanics like the boar that rapidly mines by charging rocks has you throw out your pick and start careening around like a loon.

It only really has legs during the discovery phase I think, but that’s fine. Games aren’t bad if they end.

Idk, it’s pretty difficult to get my peers to check out black and white film, let alone silent, and yet most enjoy what they see.

I came to gaming after the NES (although I was alive at the time) and have recently been emulating games and have been surprised by how good some are.

There are still modern games that expect you to read a manual before playing, there are still modern games where it takes about 2 hours to learn the UI. There are older games with 3 page manuals and simple controls too.

You’ve got to remember you’re not immune to marketing tactics either. Like part of the resistance to checking out older stuff has been placed in us all by gaming companies training us to interpret stuff like low framerate as bad, or controls that aren’t fluid as bad.

Best game doesn’t necessarily mean most enjoyable now, or even an enjoyable experience at all. Some of the greatest art is difficult, unpleasant, and challenging. Some of the greatest video games are those that set trends, or do something unique despite rough edges, or are even straight up hostile to their player.

Basically everything old. There’s such massive recency bias in game discussions. It’s very much an explicit marketing strategy to promote the new thing as more everything but somehow it’s infected almost all discussions.

Sure ok, playing an old game requires a bit more investment and effort than watching an old film or even reading an old book but mostly it’s just about lack of familiarity. Especially outside of fps style games where I’ll admit prior to halo 1 things were pretty all over the shop many older games are still approachable.

Coupled with the general dismissal of strategy and simulation genres (which were comparatively bigger in the past) and many things get forgotten outside of cult classic status.

Ok look advertising has clearly done a number on your brain because that is a fucking absurd amount of money to spend on a chair.

Like nothing in it is worth that much, you can get a very comfortable chair for 200 usd. You’re not getting 1000 usd extra value from this, just think about how much money that is and what materials this is actually made of.

Things marketed to business are absurdly overpriced because spending someone else’s money is easy, but you don’t need a chair adaptable to any body shape and capable of taking 500 kg of load. you know what body shape you are, and you probably aren’t that heavy. Features that sort of make sense in an office environment if you’re high on your own farts are completely unnecessary at home.

This is about status, hence why OP literally leads with a brag about how much money they can afford to light on fire in this post.

Hell medical evidence suggests you don’t even want too comfy of a chair because you should move around and engage your core muscles. Stuff like lumbar support is actively harmful to most people.

So get a nice chair sure but it’s a chair, you shouldn’t spend 12 weeks groceries on abs, mild steel, polyester, and maybe some polycarbonate. That’s stupid.

It could be skipped steps, a warped Z axis, lash in the axis. It doesn’t look like ringing to me.

If your steppers run too hot or against too much resistance that’d be the first thing I’d check. As well as give the axes a bit of a yank and ensure it’s all to the German spec.

For the love of all that is holey make sure your axes are square and properly tensioned.

Also if adding auto levelling modify it so that it’s at the same coordinates as the nozzle in Y (so measurements aren’t altered by a non square and difficult to fix bed axis).

3d printed plastic isn’t much worse than other plastic. The grinds aren’t under any force.

Have a look at a printed part under SEM and you’ll see it’s quite smooth and cohesive. Coffee grounds are light and fluffy, they don’t grind plastic.

I think you’re not basing this on any scientific investigation.

Do you really thing that coffee grounds brushing up on something sheds significant amounts compared to like all the plastic you touch and then eat after not washing your hands? Or the Teflon in the rain on our crops? or storing food in plastic containers particularly during heating or freezing?

I’d be more concerned about takeway coming in shitty plastic containers that stain (indicating mixing on a molecular level) than coffee grounds touching a piece of PLA.

It’s probably not very dangerous to eat peanuts once out of a 3d printed bowl because there’s no liquid to leech shit through and you’re not relying on washing it.

you need to think about the underlying mechanisms of things. If you don’t know anything then abundant caution is wise, but you should probably couple it with humility.

Leeching through solids is the only real concern here and I probably get orders of magnitude more heavy metals from my tap water (which are still safe limits) or VOCs from the plastic decaying slowly in the soil that grows my veggies (all soil on earth is contaminated at this point, but I grow next to farmers and lemme tell ya nobody hates the environment like farmers).
